A food that is a staple of my family would be open faced sandwiches. It was a great depression food that has been passed down through our family. It is beans cheese and bacon on a hamburger bun. My dad has always said that the meal keeps us humble and reminds us of how lucky we are. This meal has been in my family for almost 100 years. It is important to my culture because it shows the southern pride in our food.

My granddad has always loved southern cafeteria food, so my dad has always loved it as well and that got passed to me. So every time that we can we go to a cafeteria that serves southern food and it is always a memory of my granddad. The experience taught me that habits can always be passed down. Today we finished the essay.

The whole writing process strengthened my final essay because I was able to troubleshoot with what to write, how to write, etc. I learned that I can find different pathways of explaining something with different evidence. I also found that I can dig deep into my brain to find different trains of thought.

Drafting is an important step in the writing process because you can think about all of your ideas, if they are bad it is good to get it out and if they are good then you are set for success. The draft helped me realize what I did wrong based on the rubric, so after writing the draft tweaking it to the rubric was easy. I had made some mistakes with the quotes and how to tell the page numbers, but luckily I made the mistake in the draft so I could fix it.

The part of writing essays I struggle with the most would be explaining evidence, in the sense that I sometimes cannot gauge how much I need to explain. My strength would be following the rubric to attempt to make it the correct format. I plan to apply myself in class when we are learning about how to write.

I think my most interesting thing I thought about today would be my whole essay outline. I decided to write about finding yourself through trials and challenges, being alone, and loss. I think it is interesting because the three subtopics are very different from each other so the essay will be detailed with different perspectives. Today we made a cluster and a thesis statement for our essay.

Writing this paragraph was for the most part easy, because we were given an outline and helped with the ideals. We went through a whole tree of ideas and branched out more to the subtopics. Once we had those the only real work was finding evidence and explaining it. Today we finished our first body paragraph and watched videos on AI use.

Students writing their own work is very important because if they get in a habit of someone or something doing their work, in the real world they will not work efficiently and be able to keep a job. It is also important because it is unfair to students who don't use AI when people who do get better grades or even the same grade. Today we worked on our body paragraph and finding evidence.

The part that was most challenging for me was explaining the evidence, because I had to go deep into thought about the explanation. In the past I have found it harder to create an arguable claim, because wording it correctly is an important factor. Today we worked on our body paragraph.

The most difficult part if writing for me is explaining evidence, because it is something that just has to restate things that have already been said. My strengths when writing would be constructing the essay well and finding evidence for claims. Today we read a chapter of Wild and had a worksheet about claims.
